Homemade heating/ice pad

I came across a  DIY for this on Pinterest a while back and decided I definitely would have to make myself one of these.

Here is what I used :

2 pounds of lentils and 1/4 cup of dried lavender
2 18x8 strips of any fabric

Directions:
With your sewing machine, sew your strips of fabric together on all 3 sides (two long and one short) with the fabric inside out. Sew the 4th short side half way. Turn the fabric right side out and through the un-sewn opening fill the bag with the beans and lavender. Hand sew the rest of the 4th side.

Finished product:

This is perfect for headaches, back aches, neck aches... well pretty much any ache you can think of. Microwave it for a couple of minutes for heat or store it in the freezer for cold.
Now I can throw my old unscented rice bag away because I have a delicious smelling Star Wars bean bag!

Candy Corn Nails

I just noticed today that I have done it again. Taken an unintended extended vacation from blogging. Seeing as how it's fall already and I do my best blogging during the fall/winter months of the year I think it is safe to say my vacation is over.
Of coarse my first post back would be about nails. Still obsessed! I decided earlier this year that for the whole month of October I am going to attempt to do only fall colors and once a week try a fun design.
This week I went with candy corn!
 You will need:
White, yellow, and orange nail polish.
Scotch tape, scissors, & LOTS of time.
Start by painting your nails white. Let them dry completely.
Next cut 10 thin strips of tape.
Make sure you have removed some of the
stickyness from the tape by sticking it to your skin first.
Place the tape over the top of the white and paint the yellow
over the rest of your nail. Paint your nails one at a time
and remove the tape when you are finished.
Let this coat dry completely as well.
I waited overnight.
Cut 10 more strips of tape.
Repeat the second step but this time put the tape over
the yellow and paint the tip of your nail orange.
Finish them with a topcoat of your choice.
This is what the finished product should look like.
Some tips I have:
Take your time.
Use a bowl of ice cold water to soak your nails
after adding the next color to speed up drying time.

Happy fall & happy nail painting!

Weekly nails

I do my nails a lot. I decided it would be fun to do a weekly post showing off my nails that week.
This week I went a little crazy because it was a holiday plus my birthday. I also purchased a large amount of Essie polish and still haven't used all of them yet.

First attempt at a half moon nails.
In love with this color
First red nails in years
Also loving this color for nails and toes

4th of July nails and toes

I plan on doing this every week from now on. I will also try to do something new each week and share how I did it. There are so many great ideas out there to try and I love the idea of sharing what I have tried out.

Went to get coffee from my sister at work and
she gave me a pound of my favorite coffee.

Weekly Obsessions Vol.10

It has been a really long time since I have done this. Trying to get back on track with my lovely little blog.
Here are my favorite things this week.

Essie Nail Polish-
My darling friend works at a beauty supply store and she let me go nuts and buy as many of these babies as I wanted with her employee discount. I decided I should stop at 6 though.
A few of the colors I picked.

Tobi.com-
This website has some amazing clothes at equally decent deals.

I need all of this in my closet.

Spotify-
I am in love with this program. Its on my computer and I am now using it on my Iphone. The best part is to be listening to something at home/work and then being able to have it on my phone in the car as well. Not sure yet if I will keep using it on my phone once the 30 day trial is over.. but I am considering it.

This album-
It has been years since I listened to this band but strangely I am really enjoying this album.

Getting super excited for my birthday on Saturday. I don't really have any crazy plans but I get to spend the day doing whatever I want with my favorite people.. so of coarse it is going to be amazing.

Blog inspiration-

Sometimes we go through phases where we are a little less than inspired. Life is lovely yes, but you can easily get into a rhythm of day to day normalcy and end each day without doing something extraordinary. Inspiration can come from anything. Hearing a song, a smell, an random idea. But mostly inspiration comes from something visual.
I spend a large portion of my day online looking at media. From Tumblr to Pinterest, to the blogs I read almost everyday. I have so much appreciation for all of the resources we have out there. It is pretty rare for me to get as inspired as I just did today though. Thanks to the lovely Amy Morby I was introduced to a blog today that is full of amazing. Yes, full of amazing.

This blog is full of beautiful photos, self love, and amazing writing. Most of the time I end up scanning a blog  and mostly looking at the photos, only stopping to read a few words here and there. I ended up getting wrapped up in reading her posts for almost 30 minutes before I realized that I had been really reading instead of just skimming through it. This girl has inspired me to pick up a notebook and make a list of all of the things I love about life, myself, and what I love to do. I feel refreshed and ready to start a dozen projects. To enjoy life to the fullest extent possible in every moment I have. If you have a moment you should all go check out Kate's blog, Wake Up Lovely and hopefully after visiting you feel just like I do right now.
